How big is the problem? ACHD heart failure deaths and hospital admissions

mulder picBarbara JM Mulder is Professor of Cardiology in the AcademicMedicalCenter in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In 2001 she initiated the national registry and DNA bank for congenital heart disease, named CONCOR ( CONgenital CORvitia), in which presently over 15.000 patients have been included. She chaired the European Heart Survey on congenital heart disease with 79 participating centers from 24 countries.. From 2010 until 2012 she was president of the International Society of Adult Congenital Cardiology, ISACHD. Since April 2013 she is incoming president of the Netherlands Society of Cardiology.

Crossland photoDr. David Crossland is a Consultant Adult Congenital and Paediatric Cardiologist at FreemanHospital, Newcastle upon Tyne. The majority of his work is in the catheter lab in the form of congenital and structural intervention as well as invasive haemodynamic evaluation. He also has a major interest in the assessment of adults and children with congenital heart disease for cardio pulmonary transplant, alternative conventional surgery and ventricular assist devices. He is a member of the Clinical Reference Group (CRG) for cardiopulmonary transplant and the Heart Allocation Working Group (HAWG). Freeman Hospital carries out the majority of ACHD transplants and ventricular assist for congenital heart disease in the UK.
